π« Heartbreak at Rodney Parade! π«

It wasn’t the farewell Aaron Wainwright dreamed of as the Dragons fell to Edinburgh, 24-15, in Newport. Wainwright, the Wales No. 8, played his last game at home before heading to Leicester Tigers, but the night was stolen by Edinburgh’s Duhan van der Merwe, who crossed the line twice in the second half.

The game started strong for Dragons despite losing prop Rodrigo Martinez early to a head injury. Thanks to an Angus O’Brien penalty, they initially took the lead, with Dillon Lewis later restoring their advantage with a try from a driving maul.

Drama struck just before half-time when Rio Dyer bolted 80 metres for what seemed like a glorious try, but the TMO called it back for a knock-on. Edinburgh capitalised on this, with Tom Currie scoring shortly after.
The Dragons showed resilience in the second half with an electric run by Thomas Young setting up a try, but Edinburgh, even down to 14 men at times, clinched victory as van der Merweβs second try sealed their triumph.
Dragons fans may be disappointed, but the fight and spirit on the field still made it an engaging night at Rodney Parade. Time to turn our attention forward, support Wainwright on his new journey, and keep the Dragon flame burning for the next challenge! π₯π
