🏉 Exciting news for Cardiff Rugby fans! Rumours are swirling about a potential new addition to the coaching team! Former England international Matt Banahan is reportedly being eyed up for the position of backs coach, bringing his vast experience and fresh perspective to the table.
Banahan, who graced the field for Bath and Gloucester, earned 16 caps for England and played in the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Since hanging up his boots, he’s been busy making his mark in coaching circles, with stints at Scotland Women’s team and Gloucester-Hartpury.
Cardiff’s current head coach Corniel van Zyl, who took the reins earlier this season, is said to be keen on revamping his coaching squad ahead of the next season. With a rich coaching staff already in place, including Gethin Jenkins, Jonny Goodridge, and Scott Andrews, Banahan’s addition could spice things up further.
It seems the lure of the men’s game at Cardiff is strong, with Banahan potentially leaving the women’s circuit he has been part of. He certainly brings a fresh take, expressing in past interviews a desire to enjoy and transfer his career lessons with his unique style.
As the United Rugby Championship heats up, Cardiff fans should keep their eyes peeled for further developments. Could Banahan be the secret weapon Cardiff needs to take it to the next level? Stay tuned! 🔥🏉
