📢 Political Drama Unfolds: Will Keir Starmer Resign? 🇬🇧
Tensions are sky-high as the calls for Sir Keir Starmer to resign grow louder after Labour’s tough election results in Wales and England. Last week’s local elections delivered a blow, with the Welsh party securing just nine seats and a significant loss for First Minister Eluned Morgan.
On Monday, despite the growing pressure, Starmer firmly stated he’s not stepping down. He insisted that any attempt to remove him would be damaging to the party and the nation. As the cabinet convenes this morning, divisions are apparent. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has urged him to step aside, while key allies like Steve Reed and Pat McFadden back him to stay and fight.
So far, more than 72 MPs, including Tonia Antoniazzi from Gower and Ruth Jones from Newport West, have called for his resignation or a timeline for it. The political landscape is as volatile as ever, and all eyes are on how this saga will unfold.
