🏳️🌈 A Welsh couple faced homophobic abuse TWICE in just three days while out in Cardiff for a birthday celebration. Karl Whitcombe and his partner Craig experienced two shocking incidents from separate groups.

Their ordeal began on Queen Street when a group of lads mocked them, asking if they were gay, and ended with jeers as they walked away. Just days later, another group on a night out hurled homophobic slurs at them near the Hayes, leaving Karl shocked and reflecting on the state of society today.
Karl shared his frustration, saying, “I thought we had moved on as a society.” He feels incidents like these could be on the rise, echoing concerns from LGBTQ+ friends and data showing a surge in hate crimes against the community.

Despite the distress, Karl is speaking out to remind others they aren’t alone and to urge young people to reconsider the impact of harmful “banter”. For him, it’s about raising awareness and ensuring society understands the real harm caused by such actions.
Karl reported both incidents to the police. South Wales Police confirmed the reports and emphasised their zero-tolerance policy towards hate crime.
It’s a call for more kindness and acceptance in the world. Let’s stand together against hate! 💪❤️ #Unity #LoveIsLove #StandAgainstHate
