A shocking case emerged in Swansea Crown Court involving Jamie Lewis, who was sentenced to 18 months in prison for making death threats and violating a restraining order against his own father. Despite a legal ban from contacting his dad, Lewis aggressively defied this with threats and vile online posts. Disturbingly, he expressed intentions to put a gun in his father’s mouth and made other terrifying threats.

Previously, Lewis had a restraining order in place due to a series of abusive messages and homophobic comments directed at his father. However, he continued to breach this order, escalating to even more serious threats. To make matters worse, Lewis left abusive voicemails and unrelenting messages on social media, filled with false allegations and dangerous threats. His father’s well-being has been severely affected, leaving him and his partner anxious and fearing for their safety.

Lewis, who has a history of substance abuse and mental health struggles, was arrested in April. Upon questioning, he denied making such threats, claiming he was the one being threatened and attributing his behaviour to alcohol and drugs.
This isn’t the first time Lewis has been in trouble with the law. His criminal record stretches back to 2003 and includes serious offenses like unlawful wounding and possession of drugs. In 2022, he was jailed for an attack involving a kitchen knife on his aunt. And in 2018, he threatened to burn his father’s house down and harm his dad’s dog in a disturbing spree of abusive calls.
Lewis has demonstrated remorse and reflected on his actions while on remand. However, due to his extensive criminal background and the high risk he poses, Recorder Christian Jowett decided on an 18-month prison term. Lewis will serve part of his sentence in custody and the rest under supervision in the community, while the restraining order remains firmly in place. Stay tuned for more updates on this case.
