Legendary snooker player Dennis Taylor knows how to celebrate in style! After his unforgettable victory in the 1985 World Snooker Championship, where he triumphed over Steve Davis in a nail-biting 18-17 finish, Taylor decided it was time for a little splurge. With a grand prize of £60,000, our snooker champion didn’t hesitate to spend £50,000 on a luxury ride—a sleek, dark blue BMW 750.

Reflecting on his lavish purchase, Dennis shared a laugh, “I couldn’t believe I did it. Back when I moved to England at 17, my first car cost all of £15, the same as a new piece of chalk! Spending £50,000 on a motorcar seemed outrageous, but hey, I guess I earned it.”

Taylor’s comeback victory over Davis is still considered one of snooker’s most iconic moments. Although he never made it past the quarter-finals after that famed night, his name remains etched in the history of the sport.
Fast forward to the present, and snooker continues to thrill fans. Wu Yize became the second youngest world champion earlier this month with his own 18-17 victory, bagging a whopping £500,000. Times have certainly changed since Taylor’s era, but the excitement of snooker remains the same!
