Another Eurovision has come and gone, and the UK’s entry, Look Mum No Computer (aka Sam Battle), landed in 25th place with just one point! Bulgaria clinched the win with Dara’s “Bangaranga,” leaving us Brits to wonder once again what it takes to capture Eurovision glory. It’s been a rocky road since our last win in 1997 with Katrina and the Waves. Remember Sam Ryder’s impressive second place in 2022? A rare highlight!

This year, though, our hopes were dashed again, prompting fans to voice their frustrations online. Some are even suggesting it’s time for the UK to bow out from the contest. One user commented, “About time we knocked it on the head”, while another quipped, “Time to call it a day, they only want the money we put in.”
The financial aspect has also sparked debate, with some pointing out the cost of our participation might not be worth it. “Britain is financing most of this contest, it’s time to pull the plug,” a fan said, echoing a sentiment felt by many.

As the dust settles, we can’t help but laugh along with Sam, who took it all in stride. Whether you’re a die-hard Eurovision fan or just enjoy the spectacle, it’s a tradition that’s sure to keep sparking conversations! Catch up on all the Eurovision fun on BBC iPlayer.
