🚧 Exciting News for Pontypridd! 🚧

Our beloved White Bridge on Berw Road is getting a much-needed facelift to ensure its future. The Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is gearing up to start crucial works to maintain the iconic structure’s integrity.
👉 Here’s what’s planned:
– Removing previous waterproofing and possibly relining the gunite on both abutments.

– Installing an upgraded lighting system to brighten up our walks.
– Undertaking masonry repairs on the northwest retaining wall.
– Sprucing up the footway on the bridge’s south side.
Good to know: The bridge, a Grade II-listed gem, is of significant historical value due to its unique construction method—one of the first to use reinforced concrete. With the recent works having stabilised the structure, these new improvements aim to maintain and restore its glory, protecting it from future deterioration.
Why is it important? Ensuring the long-term stability of this architectural marvel will preserve its special historical and architectural character, keeping it open and functional for generations to come.
