🌟 Meet Sara Crowley: A Fighter Turned Leader! 🌟

From almost losing her life at 16 due to ketoacidosis, battling a rare eating disorder, and facing temporary blindness, Sara Crowley has faced immense challenges. Yet, these experiences have only fuelled her determination to advocate for others. Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at just three years old, Sara understands the struggles that children with long-term health conditions face. That’s why she’s stepping up as a new Senedd member for Plaid Cymru in Pontypridd Cynon Merthyr.

Her journey into politics began unexpectedly through a mentoring programme that aimed to empower women and minority groups to take charge in public life. Originally just exploring the space, Sara found her calling and passion here, ultimately leading to her election.
It’s been an incredible journey—one marked by overcoming adversity and blossoming into a beacon of activism. Sara is now a mum to five-year-old twins with her partner Leanne, and she’s ready to make her mark in the political arena. She’s not just carrying her personal labels of being a mum, part of the LGBT+ community, and living with a disability; she’s using these experiences to broaden perspectives and inspire those around her.
Sara’s fighting spirit has already influenced healthcare professionals across Wales. Her work has centred on improving care for adolescents with diabetes, spurred by her own experiences and the support triangle she valued so much growing up.
Through her role, Sara wants to give voice to those who feel unheard and inspire others from humble beginnings. Her message is clear: your past does not define your future, and you have the power to make a difference.
Let’s rally behind Sara as she transforms personal battles into public triumphs for Wales! 💪💚
