Shocking and distressing events unfolded in Cardiff when 37-year-old Tyran Webber threatened to harm his own mother after she refused to hand him cash for drugs. Ignoring a court restraining order, Webber unleashed a torrent of menacing messages, even on Mother’s Day, while his mother was visiting her own mother’s grave.

Webber’s threats escalated to horrendous levels, telling his mother he would throw her off a car park roof unless she complied with his demands, showcasing an unsettlingly violent streak. He accused her of unimaginable things and demeaned her with vile language, adding further emotional torment.
In a distressing encounter, the victim tried to placate him with £10, but things took a turn for the worse. Webber forced his way into her car, wrecked her possessions, and even spat in her face during a terrifying drive. The situation only ended when the desperate mother flagged down a police car, leading to Webber’s arrest.

Webber, having no fixed abode, admitted to harassment, issuing death threats, assault, and criminal damage. His long history of offences, totalling 44 prior convictions, painted a grim picture. A court in Newport finally brought some respite to the embattled mother, sentencing him to 21 months behind bars along with a five-year restraining order.

This heartbreaking story is a stark reminder of the emotional and physical havoc that substance abuse can wreak on families, with the mother now living in constant fear of reprisals. The judge, in no uncertain terms, told Webber he should be ashamed of his actions, offering a semblance of justice to his long-suffering mother.
