🚨 Big news in the Championship! 🚨 Southampton have been booted out of the Championship play-off final due to a Spygate scandal! The Saints were caught spying on Middlesbrough before their semi-final clash, and an independent commission didn’t take it lightly.
The verdict means Southampton are not only out of the upcoming final, but they also face a four-point deduction in next season’s Championship. Middlesbrough, who were defeated by Southampton, will now step up to face Hull City at Wembley this Saturday.
The decision was confirmed on Tuesday after Southampton admitted to breaching EFL regulations by unauthorised filming of Middlesbrough’s training. The EFL’s statement was clear: sporting integrity is the priority.
Middlesbrough welcomed the decision, stating it sends a strong message about fair play in football. They’re now gearing up for the big final at Wembley, and ticket info for their fans will be out soon.
