🏟️ Drama in the EFL Championship! 🏟️
Josh Windass has sparked debate by suggesting that the entire EFL play-offs should be replayed after Southampton were expelled for a ‘spygate’ scandal. The Saints were booted from the Championship play-off final against Hull City after admitting to sneaky, unauthorised filming of rival clubs. 😮
The EFL confirmed Southampton violated rules about honourable conduct, specifically prohibiting spying on another club’s training session just days before a match. Consequently, Middlesbrough have been reinstated to face Hull at Wembley, but this might change as Southampton plan to appeal. 🕵️♂️
Windass chimed in on Instagram, labelling the situation “mad” and questioned why the play-offs aren’t being restarted with all the original teams. Some fans agreed, with one pointing out, “That means Wrexham could be in!” 🤔
As it stands, the Championship final is set for Saturday, but Southampton’s appeal might shake things up. Keep your eyes peeled for what could be a game-changing decision as the drama unfolds! ⚽
