A rather unusual incident unfolded at Llwyn Yr Eos School when a teaching assistant found herself in hot water over a chocolate bar dispute. Picture this: a bustling dining hall, a sneaky chocolate theft, and a teaching assistant caught in the middle. The assistant, Joan Morgan, is now sidelined for two years after a disciplinary committee deemed her actions “inappropriate and unacceptable.”

Here’s the scoop: Pupil A swiped a chocolate bar from Pupil B, sparking a mini chocolate crisis. Witnesses claim Mrs Morgan shouted at the young thieving culprit—who has complex learning needs. But it doesn’t stop there. In the rush to resolve this cocoa calamity, Mrs Morgan allegedly placed her finger inside the pupil’s mouth. She contends it was purely accidental when the child bit her, but witnesses painted a different picture.

Teacher Ffion Tomos shared that she saw Mrs Morgan’s finger in the pupil’s mouth, chocolate and all. The committee believed Mrs Morgan indeed tried retrieving the sweet treat with her finger, and also reportedly pulled the pupil by the arm—a move she justified as necessary to prevent further chaos.
Despite her claims to the contrary, the panel wasn’t convinced. They concluded Joan Morgan’s actions didn’t match the standards expected in a classroom environment. Freddie Lewendon, presenting officer for the case, highlighted her lack of accountability and the incident’s public nature in front of other pupils.
The verdict? A teaching ban for two years, after which Mrs Morgan can appeal. Panel chair Michelle McBreeze emphasised the serious nature of the physical action, noting Mrs Morgan’s lack of self-reflection on her actions.
Stay tuned and always keep your hands off the chocolate! 🍫
