From Friday onwards, expect highs of 26°C in parts of Wales, with temperatures climbing steadily as the days go by. Monday could see the UK challenging the May record of 32.8°C set back in 1944! Met Office’s deputy chief forecaster, Steve Kocher, believes this could be our hottest May yet, especially as we head into the bank holiday weekend. 🥵

While there will be plenty of sunshine across much of the UK, Northern Ireland and western Scotland might see some showers and more cloud cover. Don’t be surprised by a bit of sea fog sticking to western coasts due to cooler sea temperatures.

Soak up the sunshine but do it safely! 🌞 Stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and remember your sunscreen when heading outdoors. Be cautious about open water too—while it might look inviting, it’s still extremely cold. Keep an eye on vulnerable neighbours, friends, and family members, especially the elderly and children, to ensure they stay safe in the heat.

The warm weather gives us a fantastic opportunity to spend time with loved ones, but let’s be mindful and look out for each other. Cold water shock is no joke, so let’s enjoy everything the sunshine has to offer responsibly. 🏖️
