A somber situation unfolded near Shrewsbury as a person was found on the train line and has sadly passed away. The British Transport Police reported the incident, confirming there’s nothing suspicious about the death.
This heartbreaking event caused major disruption to train services between Shrewsbury and Machynlleth. Passengers faced cancellations or delays, as Transport for Wales had to pause operations to allow emergency services to attend to the incident.
The call for help came in at 1:18 pm on the Friday afternoon, with both officers and paramedics responding. Despite their efforts, the person was pronounced dead at the scene. A file will be prepared for the coroner in due course.
Transport for Wales has been on top of the situation, but folks traveling in the region have been advised that upsets to their plans could continue until around 4:30 pm.
