**Shocking Dog Attack Near Ammanford Leaves Man and Spaniel Traumatised**

A leisurely evening walk turned into a nightmare for Sean Boyle and his beloved springer spaniel, Lady, near Ammanford. The peaceful surroundings of Gellinudd Golf Club were shattered when they were allegedly attacked by two Belgian Malinois and a German Shepherd.

Sean, 60, describes the ordeal as “terrifying.” Lady, who was happily chasing squirrels, suddenly returned to him, chased by the large dogs. Despite his efforts to protect her, including attempts to fend off the dogs with his walking boots, Sean and Lady both suffered injuries. The scene was chaotic, with Sean forced to physically pull a dog off Lady, resulting in bites on his own arm. Meanwhile, his older collie watched helplessly from a distance.
The aftermath saw Sean heading to A&E for treatment, while Lady received urgent care from emergency vets. Both are on the mend, but the emotional scars linger. Sean admits feeling “traumatised” and is now wary of walks, especially in areas with limited visibility.
Adding to the stress, Sean expressed frustration with the police response, claiming delays in taking a formal statement. He voiced concerns over the potential for similar incidents to occur in the meantime.
Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed they are investigating, urging caution to prevent future attacks.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictability of encounters during routine walks and highlights the importance of effective responses to such distressing events.
