Bethan, a cancer survivor and gold medallist, had already faced several hurdles in her job, including alleged bullying and unfair accusations of inflated pay claims. Despite her request for annual leave to compete for Great Britain at the 2023 European Championships being denied, she still went above and beyond for her job. But this missed meeting was the final straw.

An employment judge ruled that Bethan was unfairly treated, slamming the employer’s behaviour as “contemptuous” and “wholly unreasonable.” The tribunal found that her legal battle was justified, particularly in light of the company’s failure to uphold the mutual trust expected in a supportive work environment. ⚖️

Bethan’s journey hasn’t been easy—she fought stage-three ovarian cancer as a teen and emerged victorious in sports and life. Now, she’s guiding the next generation, coaching the Danish women’s team, while continuing her work with the Royal Marines reserves. 🌟

Here’s to Bethan for standing strong and making a remarkable recovery both on and off the water! 💪🏽🏅
