A Cardiff man, Joshua Jones, has found himself behind bars for his ties to drug dealing, revealing the risks of getting tangled in the world of crime to pay off debts. During a routine probation appointment, police arrested Jones, seizing his phone which contained a staggering 23,000 messages linked to class A drug supply.

In court, it was revealed that the 27-year-old had a £10,000 debt looming over him, pushing him into the illegal activities. His involvement with two ‘drug lines’ came to light, with each phone bursting with texts detailing drug sales and deals. Joshua has since pleaded guilty to being involved in the supply of crack cocaine and diamorphine over an extensive period.

Judge Lucy Crowther decided on a punishment fitting the crime, sentencing him to 54 months in prison. Jones’ case serves as a shocking reminder of how spiralling debts can lead to life-altering decisions and severe consequences.
