The iconic yet controversial Stradey Park Hotel in Llanelli is making headlines again. Over the bank holiday weekend, police issued a stern warning due to a surge in trespassing incidents linked to social media buzz. Officers from Dyfed-Powys Police are busy investigating reports of criminal damage and burglary as people, hoping to create online content, have been sneaking into the premises.

This once-glorious hotel has had quite a tumultuous journey. After announcing in May 2023 it was closing to transform into a home for asylum seekers—a move that sparked large protests—the plan was abruptly halted in October the same year. Attempts to revive the hotel didn’t spare it from losing the locals’ trust. Fast forward to March this year, and the hotel once again shut its doors, standing empty and inviting curiosity.

Teetering between mystery and history, the hotel’s empty corridors are now being showcased in videos online, drawing even more social media attention.

The police are urging everyone to stay away and promptly report any instances of trespassing. They are working with the hotel’s new owners, Ullcom Limited, to manage the issue and ensure the local residents feel safe.

If you know anything about these incidents, contact Dyfed-Powys Police through their website, social media, or by calling 101. You can also report anonymously to Crimestoppers.
