Rowan Smith, an 18-year-old from Swansea, found himself in hot water after a night on Wind Street turned into more than just a bit of fun. The teen, who dreams of joining the Army, had a run-in with the law after being caught with drugs. Despite being asked to leave the area, Rowan refused and ended up in court facing serious charges.

During the hearing, it was revealed that Rowan had eight bags of ketamine on him, and his phone held messages about selling cocaine and ecstasy. His lawyer explained that Rowan had fallen in with the wrong crowd but was eager to get his life back on track and pursue his Army aspirations.

His journey hasn’t been easy. A medical issue with his ADHD medication disqualified him from joining the military, leading him to make some poor choices. However, his family has been fighting this decision for 18 months, trying to get him back on his desired path.
The judge recognised Rowan’s determination to improve his situation and opted for a 28-month suspended sentence, allowing him a chance to turn his life around instead of serving immediate jail time. The hope is this young man can leave his troublesome behaviour behind and work towards his future goals. Let’s hope Rowan can march forward and achieve his dreams in the Army. 🌟
