Exciting news for Newport! A disused public toilet block on Caerleon Road is getting a fab makeover and turning into a cosy new café. This unique renovation will breathe life into the old facilities, offering both indoor and outdoor seating for customers to enjoy a cuppa. With plans for a practical and sustainable design, the project by Zena Al-Ibrahim aims to blend perfectly with the character of the area.
While a few locals raised concerns about having another café in town, the council assures there’s the right mix of shops and eateries. Plus, who wouldn’t love to see an unused space buzzing with activity again? This project is set to create two new jobs, making it an exciting development for the community.
The new café will feature a kitchen and customer toilets, with a chic retractable canopy for the outdoor area—a perfect spot to relax and soak up the atmosphere. Originally planned as a larger venue, the new café will keep to the footprint of the existing building, making it an intimate space to unwind.
