Bristol Bears have officially confirmed the departure of hooker Will Capon this summer. Capon, who was once a rising star in the England U20s squad, has been in the spotlight since he was charged with rape back in March. He firmly denies the accusations and is set to face trial next year.

Previously sidelined due to an injury, Capon hasn’t hit the field for Bristol in over a year, with his last game appearance dating back to May 2025. Joining the Bears’ academy in 2014 and making his senior debut in 2018, Capon played a crucial role in helping the team climb back to the Premiership.
Bristol Bears, bidding farewell to several players this season, kept Capon’s name out of their social media thank-you graphic. Unlike his fellow leavers, the club’s announcement didn’t spotlight Capon’s achievements.
In other Bears news, full-back Rich Lane is also leaving after tallying 12 tries in 69 appearances. Also departing are Sam Grahamslaw, John Edwards, Toby Barker, Raff Weston, and a few others, as Bristol preps for their last home game of the season against Bath.
Bristol’s director of rugby, Pat Lam, expressed gratitude for the players’ dedication, highlighting their significant contributions on and off the pitch. A special farewell ceremony is planned at Ashton Gate, allowing supporters to show their appreciation. Don’t miss the chance to applaud these athletes for their commitment and achievements! 🏉
