Heartbreaking news from Thornton-Cleveleys as a heroic woman in her 60s tragically lost her life in an attempt to save her dog from the sea. It all unfolded when both she and a man, also in his 60s, dove into the waters, trying to rescue their canine companion. While the dog was safely recovered, the woman sadly passed away despite being treated on the scene and taken to hospital. The man remains in critical condition at the hospital.

Lancashire Police reported that HM Coastguard intervened after they received a call at 8:31 pm about the two individuals in trouble near Fleetwood Beach Café. Though valiant efforts were made, the woman couldn’t be saved. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her untimely passing, and the police are working to reach her next of kin.

It’s a stark reminder of the love and bravery of pet owners, and an incredibly sad story for the community. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones affected by this tragedy. 🌊✨
