🏉 Shaun Edwards: A Legend’s Possible Return to Wales?
Exciting news in the rugby world! Shaun Edwards, the celebrated defence coach, might be making a surprising exit from the French side, fuelling hopes for his return to Welsh rugby. Edwards, a key figure in Welsh success with seven Six Nations titles under his belt, is widely revered for his tactical prowess and has been missed since his departure in 2019.
During his tenure with Wales, Edwards crafted an impenetrable defence, famously conceding only two tries during the 2008 Six Nations. In 2013, Wales didn’t allow a single try in four consecutive matches! His expertise arguably made Wales one of the toughest teams to crack on the field.
Now, with rumours swirling about his potential availability, Welsh fans are eager to see Edwards back with the team. He’s hinted at a willingness to return, expressing his love for the Six Nations – a competition he judges himself on. “In the future? Yeah, of course,” he remarked, reflecting on the prestige of the event and its historic battles.
Edwards nearly stayed with Wales in 2019 but ended up crossing the channel after plans for a rugby league return didn’t materialise. Many still see his departure as a massive oversight. As whispers of his possible departure from France grow, is there a chance we might see him back where so many fans feel he belongs?
