In a shocking twist, a former prison watchdog chief has landed herself in hot water! Helen Spree, 63, was in charge of keeping prison conditions in check but allegedly crossed all the lines. Reports reveal she had inappropriate relationships with three inmates and even had pillows with the face of a convicted killer plastered on them. Dubbed herself the “prison version of Deliveroo,” Spree allegedly smuggled drugs and phones into HMP Liverpool over 20 months.

Her close connections included Dylan Westall, serving a life sentence for manslaughter, and Thomas Porterfield, jailed for firearm conspiracy. They weren’t just exchanging messages—there were reportedly some very explicit chats too!

Things took a dramatic turn when officers found pillow cushions featuring Westall’s face in Spree’s home. This jaw-dropping case took an even darker turn when the inmates requested Spree supply them with cannabis and other contraband. And she delivered—as she confessed in court to misconduct in a public office and other offences.
Why did she do it? Her defence suggests a personal history of abuse and low self-esteem led her down this path. But when it came to flattery and being a confidante, she reportedly found it irresistible.
Don’t miss more details of the sentencing set for Tuesday. Stay tuned for updates!
