💥 Homes Shake as Tata Blows Up Giant Gas Container in Port Talbot! 🚧

If you were anywhere near Port Talbot on Wednesday evening, chances are you heard (or felt) a significant explosion! Tata Steel safely carried out a planned demolition of a massive, redundant gas container at its site. While some residents got the heads-up, others claim they weren’t warned and felt their homes shake from the blast—which they said was like “thunder.”

📹 Dramatic footage shows the moment the huge container collapsed, sending thick smoke into the air. This gas holder had been out of commission since September 2024, but its demolition is making room for exciting new developments—a three million tonne capacity electric arc furnace!
🚓 To ensure safety, South Wales Police even set up a rolling roadblock on the M4 while the demolition was underway. Despite Tata’s Facebook posts alerting locals to possible noise, some residents felt the warning fell short. Rhian Hughes, a long-time resident, said her whole house shook during tea time: “We’ve heard noises before, but nothing like this!”
Others like Lloyd Davies were more alarmed, claiming their windows nearly shattered: “We only found out what happened after the blast.” Residents are calling for clearer communication in the future, suggesting measures like a vehicle with a loudspeaker could help.
🔥 In a separate incident, a fire later broke out on another part of the Tata site, causing significant damage.
