π₯ Massive Blaze at Neath Abbey Recycling Plant π₯

Early Thursday morning, a huge fire broke out at a recycling plant in Neath Abbey Wharf, consuming around 150 tonnes of recyclable rubbish. The fire was an enormous challenge, creating towering smoke plumes visible for miles around!

π Firefighters from across Wales, and even some from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, worked tirelessly to tackle the blaze. Crews used specialised equipment like 12 sets of breathing apparatus, ground monitors, and main jets to combat the intense orange and yellow flames. Their incredible effort lasted all day, with fire services not leaving the scene until the evening.
The fire covered a substantial area of about 75 by 40 metres. Thankfully, quick action and a well-coordinated response brought the situation under control, but not without a significant operation. This incident was one of two major fires in the area, with crews also engaged at a separate blaze at the Tata Steel site in Port Talbot.
The hard-working emergency services deserve a massive thank you for their dedication and bravery in keeping our communities safe!
Stay safe out there, everyone, and letβs support our firefighters who continue to tackle these challenging incidents.
