It was supposed to be their most magical Christmas, but for Brooke Webb and Wil Rees, life took a heartbreaking turn. Just days after welcoming their firstborn, little Gwilym, into the world, the couple from Pontypridd endured the unimaginable loss of their baby boy, who passed away at just 11 days old.

“Becoming Gwilym’s mam and dad was the best thing that had ever happened to us,” Brooke shared. The young parents were overjoyed to finally start their family, eagerly preparing for all the cherished moments they would share. Instead, they now find themselves navigating life under the weight of an unimaginable grief.

In their sorrow, Brooke and Wil have found strength in each other and are now on a mission to raise awareness about baby loss. Despite their pain, they’re determined to ensure no other family feels alone in such a tragic situation. Supported by charities 2wish and Sands, they’ve found vital guidance and camaraderie among other bereaved parents who understand their heartache.
To honour Gwilym and keep his memory alive, the couple set out on the daunting challenge of climbing Yr Wyddfa. Joined by others who have faced similar losses, they embarked on the climb amidst sun, rain, and fierce winds, raising over £8,000 in the process to support those who need it most.
“Every step was worth it,” Brooke says, reflecting on their journey up the summit. The climb not only served as a way to remember their son but also to channel their grief into something positive, ensuring Gwilym’s legacy makes a difference.
Their story is one of profound loss and unimaginable love. With each donation and every step taken in his memory, Brooke and Wil are determined to support others, hoping no other family has to endure such heartache alone. Their journey is a testament to Gwilym’s lasting impact, turning heartache into hope and support for bereaved families everywhere. ❤️
