Heartbreaking news for 14-year-old Ethan Griffiths and his family. This talented young rugby player from Bridgend Athletic RFC had just celebrated being cancer-free, ringing the victory bell after a tough battle with Burkitt’s Lymphoma. But just days later, Ethan was back in hospital with the news no one wanted to hear: his cancer has returned.

Ethan, described by his dad Lloyd as their “6ft warrior,” has shown incredible strength and determination throughout this journey. Despite being faced with such a cruel setback, he’s ready to fight again and is hoping to join a clinical trial that offers a glimmer of hope.

Ethan’s story has touched hearts, garnering support from his beloved rugby and football communities. Earlier this year, his Bridgend Athletic under-14s teammates even shaved their heads to stand in solidarity with him. His family’s been overwhelmed by the kindness and support from both friends and strangers across South Wales.
Ethan’s currently in Bristol Children’s Hospital, where doctors are working to get him on a treatment pathway that might be more effective against this aggressive form of cancer. While the family navigates this new chapter of pain and uncertainty, their community continues to rally around them, lifting them up during this challenging time.
A fundraiser has been launched by Sarah Williams, the mum of one of Ethan’s teammates, to help ease the financial strain on Ethan’s family as they take time off work to be by his side. You can find the fundraiser online and contribute to support this brave young chap and his loving family in their fight against cancer.
Please keep Ethan in your thoughts, and take a moment to support his journey. This young talent is determined to beat cancer and get back to the sports he loves. Stay strong, Ethan! 💪💙
