A heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded in London as a mother, father, and their young son fell from their 36th-floor balcony in Highpoint Tower, Elephant and Castle. Aditi Paralkar, 46, her husband Rakesh Pai, 47, and their son Sid lost their lives in this tragic incident on May 27.

Friends of the family have painted a picture of what life was like before the devastating event. Both Aditi and Rakesh, distinguished professionals in their fields, held prominent positions in London after moving from India in the early 2000s. Despite their achievements, they faced immense challenges in caring for their son Sid, who was disabled and recently discharged from hospital without receiving necessary treatment.
The Highpoint tragedy raises questions that loved ones hope will be answered by a forthcoming inquest. Friends remember the family fondly, calling them “wonderful” and expressing disbelief at what has happened. Rakesh was known for his charity work, giving his time to Alzheimer’s Society and Thomas Pocklington Trust. Aditi, described as loyal and hardworking, was regarded as a pleasure to be around by her colleagues.

Neighbours described the couple as lovely, emphasising the importance of friends in their lives since they had no family in the UK. The Metropolitan Police are treating the deaths as “unexpected” and continue investigations.
The community in Elephant and Castle remains in shock, with many calling for clarity and hoping the inquest will uncover the truth behind this tragic loss. Our thoughts are with their loved ones during this difficult time.
