⚖️ **Sentencing Day for Ely Riots Participants** ⚖️
We’re back in court today as seven individuals are being sentenced for their roles in the Ely riots. The initial spark for the violence was a tragic accident that claimed the lives of two young boys, Kyrees Sullivan and Harvey Evans, back in May 2023. The electric bike collision in Cardiff led to heartbreaking scenes as the boys’ grieving mothers attempted to reach their sons, only to be blocked by police.
The chaotic night saw about 150 people gathering on the streets, resulting in hours of mayhem and damage. Community anger was fueled by rumours of police involvement in the chase that led to the collision.
During the first day in court, there were tense moments with statements from officers who faced violence, including one officer set alight. As these statements were shared, a defendant disrupted the proceedings, shouting out for Harvey and Kyrees, which led the judge to remove him.
Today, Lee Robinson, Callum O’Sullivan, Asdon O’Dare, Kyle Telemaque, Harvey James, Jasmine Smith, and Tyler Stapleton stand before the judge. Keep watching this space for updates as the drama unfolds and justice is served. 📰👀
