🚗💡 Heads up, drivers! Make sure you know your PCNs! You might think it’s just a piece of paper under your wiper, but those three letters could mean different things and cost you in unexpected ways.

📝 Parking Charge Notice or Penalty Charge Notice? They sound alike, but they’re not! The RAC is spreading the word on these often-misunderstood abbreviations, and here’s why you should care:
1️⃣ **Penalty Charge Notice (PCN)**: Issued by local councils, these are official fines. You must pay up, or face serious consequences.

2️⃣ **Parking Charge Notice (PCN)**: Issued by private companies, these are basically invoices for alleged rule-breaking on private land. Unlike those issued by councils, they’re not fines, although they can be enforced.
📣 Simon Williams from the RAC highlighted that the uniform bright yellow tickets don’t help in differentiating the two, making the need for clarity even more crucial. Most drivers actually think they’re deliberately designed to look the same!
🚫 Confused on what to do if you get one? You can always appeal! Independent appeal bodies are on hand for both types of notices. So don’t feel stuck.

🤯 Did you know new research has shown some surprising insurance findings too? Parking in a garage, often seen as the safest spot, could actually hike your premium! Apparently, with cars getting larger, squeezing them into small spaces increases the chances of damage. Who knew choosing a parking spot could impact your wallet like that?
