🔍 Key Moments from Today’s Ely Riots Sentencing 🔍
Five individuals found themselves in the dock at Cardiff Crown Court today, marking the fourth day of a gripping sentencing hearing involving a total of 30 people. Dive into the highlights of the day:
1️⃣ **Ryan Knight’s Courtroom Apology**
Ryan Knight expressed remorse through his barrister, following an earlier courtroom outburst where he questioned why Harvey and Kyrees weren’t mentioned. Known as a “prominent, aggressive, and prolific” rioter, Knight’s actions included throwing bottles and stones at police and even using an aerosol as a flamethrower. Following his arrest, he missed a court date and was discovered by police hiding under a friend’s bed—quite the dramatic saga!
2️⃣ **Jaydan Baston’s Cheeky Comment**
In a bold move, Jaydan Baston mocked a police officer during the riots, asking, “Are you going to use that baton?” before he launched a missile at them. Recently, he’s been involved in setting up a football team to honour Kyrees Sullivan and Harvey Evans—talk about turning a new leaf!
3️⃣ **Liam Williams’s Role**
Williams took his works van to the scene, distributing aerosol cans and fuel. These materials were later used as flamethrowers to ignite chaos, fuelling fires to vehicles and other items. Not your average workday!
These moments in court are part of a wider effort to address the actions of those involved in the Ely riots. What are your thoughts on today’s hearing? Let’s discuss in the comments! 💬
