A shocking incident unfolded at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff when a transgender woman was caught committing an indecent act in front of nurses. Paula Stanton, 62, from Barry, has been jailed after being found guilty of this serious offence. The unsettling event took place in the hospital’s waiting room while Stanton awaited a mental health assessment. Despite the inappropriate setting, she was seen putting her hands down her trousers and performing the act in full view of the staff, even making eye contact with one of the nurses.
Stanton, who has a history of similar offences, was previously handed a sexual harm prevention order back in 2019, which she breached with this latest incident. Her record includes multiple convictions for outraging public decency and indecent exposure. It’s not the first time Stanton has found herself in legal trouble, having amassed numerous offences over the years.
Upon her arrest for this latest incident, Stanton showed no remorse, telling the police she did nothing wrong. However, in court, her defence lawyer mentioned that Stanton had been making progress with probation services before relapsing. Despite understanding the likelihood of an immediate custodial sentence, Stanton was sentenced to just over five months in prison, considering her early guilty plea. She will serve part of her sentence in custody before being released on licence.
