In a heartbreaking case, Fiona Hodge has been sentenced to a year in prison for causing the tragic death of beloved Welsh rugby boss Donna Crossman. Donna, from Bridgend, was walking to a Take That concert in Bristol in 2024 when Hodge’s car veered off the road, hitting her and causing fatal injuries.

Hodge, who claimed an undiagnosed epileptic seizure led to the crash, was found guilty of careless driving. Along with her prison sentence, she faces a £3,000 penalty and a driving ban for two-and-a-half years.

Post-conviction, Donna’s parents, Stephen and Annette Price, expressed relief that justice highlighted their daughter’s memory and their long quest for truth. “It won’t bring our beloved Donna back, but it proves the legal system works,” they said, paying tribute to her remarkable life and legacy, including managing the Wales national women’s rugby and netball teams.
Police officer Noelie Poupard acknowledged the impact of Donna’s loss and hopes the sentence offers some closure. This devastating incident reminds us of the fragility of life, and our thoughts are with Donna’s family as they continue to grieve their incredible daughter.
