A real-life Baywatch family has hit the shores of Wales! Meet the Owen family—dad Tom, son Cai, and daughter Poppy—who are all volunteering as lifeguards this summer at a picturesque Welsh beach.
Tom, originally a lifeguard in the early ’90s, rekindled his passion in 2022, inspired by his time in Australia volunteering for surf lifesaving clubs. Now, he proudly shares the lifeguarding duty with his two talented children in Pembrokeshire.
Cai, 19, and Poppy, 17, both honed their skills as competitive swimmers from a young age. Poppy’s even an expert surfer, having represented Wales in European tournaments for three years running! Their shared commitment to safety on the beach is heartwarming.
The beach isn’t just a workplace for them; it’s a family affair filled with memorable adventures. Cai recalls cycling to work with his dad—a cherished routine despite the occasional flat tyre!
For Poppy, working alongside her family means an active, fulfilling summer, especially as the lifeguards celebrate their 25th anniversary.
