🏃♂️🚨 Talk about going the extra mile! When off-duty cop PC Oliver Grimas noticed burglary suspect Arron Young in Newport, he didn’t hesitate. Grimas sprinted through the streets, ultimately catching Young on Bailey Street! 💪

The chase ended with Young’s arrest at around 6:40 pm, thanks to Grimas’ quick thinking. Young recently faced Newport Crown Court and pled guilty to a string of charges including shop thefts, commercial burglaries, and criminal damage. The result? A 14-month prison sentence! 🏛️🔒

PC Andy Buchanan from Newport’s neighbourhood team praised the heroic efforts saying, “Our priority is keeping our communities safe, and offences like these deeply affect local businesses and residents.”
Young was part of an investigation into break-ins at Newport and Pontymister Industrial Estate, Risca, earlier this year. Buchanan urged anyone impacted by crime to report it to help target prolific offenders.
