Tragedy has struck at a Manchester Tesco as beloved dad-of-three, Mohamed Nassar, has sadly passed away following a choking incident at work. The 58-year-old security guard was doing his shift at Tesco Express on New Bailey Street, Salford when he tragically choked on a doughnut while taking medication. Despite desperate attempts by staff and paramedics to save him, including 23 minutes of resuscitation, Mohamed never regained consciousness.

For 44 challenging days, his family kept hope alive as Mohamed lay in hospital. Sadly, he left us on 22 June, leaving his family heartbroken and grappling with their unexpected loss. Originally a musician who moved to Manchester from London in 2020, Mohamed’s family — his wife Nancy and his children Seif, Nariman, and Malak — have shared their deep sorrow, saying a huge void has been left by his passing.
Describing Mohamed as a wonderful person who was deeply loved, the family have been incredibly moved by the outpouring of love and support from friends, colleagues, and the wider community. They want you to remember him for the remarkable person he was.

The local community continues to rally around the family, as a fundraising appeal to cover funeral expenses and support them financially is still ongoing. Every bit of support helps as they navigate this difficult time.
Let’s remember Mohamed for the incredible person he was and keep his memory alive. Our thoughts are with his family during this challenging period. ❤️
