In a heart-wrenching courtroom revelation, a woman bravely shared how her life was forever changed after a man broke into her home and raped her. The victim, who chose to remain anonymous, described the devastating impact of the attack, stating she felt her “life had no value anymore.”

On June 22, it was revealed that 25-year-old Lewis Miller from Hankinson Street, Old Swan, unlawfully entered her home before committing the horrific crime. Prosecutor Robert Dudley detailed the significant psychological harm she endured. Fighting back tears, the victim told the court, “The day I was raped altered my life forever. I felt like a disgrace… My poor father has to watch his little girl fall apart… I’m left paranoid and destroyed.”

Her father, emotionally recounting the impact on his family, shared that a phone call on that fateful Saturday morning changed everything. “She no longer sees the best in people,” he said, deeply affected by the trial’s distressing revelations.
Despite having no prior relevant convictions, Miller was found guilty of rape and assault by penetration after a trial. The court sentenced him to seven years in prison, with Judge Dennis Watson KC condemning the act as a gross violation. Miller, appearing via video link, was also handed a restraining order, preventing any contact with the victim, and must sign the sex offenders’ register for life.
