π¨ Missing Hen Harrier Mystery Unfolds in Wales’ ‘Bermuda Triangle’ π¨

Attention nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts! A rare Hen Harrier has mysteriously vanished from a notorious hotspot near Wrexham, known as Wales’ ‘Bermuda Triangle’ for birds of prey. Despite being equipped with a satellite tag, the young bird disappeared in late August 2025 while flying over Ruabon Moor, an infamous grouse shooting area.

The satellite tag, funded by the RSPB and the National Trust, was later found with its harness deliberately cut. Sadly, the Hen Harrier’s body remains missing. This tragic disappearance highlights ongoing concerns about illegal persecution of these magnificent birds, which are already under threat despite legal protection.

North Wales Police and RSPB are treating the incident as suspicious, urging the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activity. Remember, harming these protected species can lead to hefty fines or even imprisonment.
Why is this happening? Historically, some gamebird shooting estates target birds of prey to protect their gamebird populations. This financially driven crime has sadly turned Ruabon Moor into a hotspot for such illegal activities.
Nature deserves better, and we must act now. RSPB Cymru is pushing for a licensing system to safeguard our native wildlife. If you see or know anything, please reach out to North Wales Police at 101 or report through the RSPB. Let’s unite to protect our precious wildlife! πΏπ¦
