🚨 Cardiff Drama! 🚨

Imagine walking past a police station and spotting someone casually strolling with an axe! That’s exactly what happened when Michael Balmont was seen near Cathays Police Station in Cardiff recently. Why was he wielding an axe, you ask? According to him, he was trying to hide from a drug dealer in a paranoid haze after an intense five-day drug binge.

Officers spotted Balmont on CCTV around 6am lurking near the station. When approached, he calmly placed the axe on the ground and explained his fears. Despite the alarming situation, Balmont did not attempt any violence against the officers.
Fast forward to Cardiff Crown Court, and Balmont is facing the music. With an “appalling” record demonstrating his longstanding challenges with substance abuse and crime, he was sentenced to 10 months behind bars.
The court recognised this as a potential turning point for Balmont, who’s showing a determination to change while in custody. He’s committed to counselling and a 12-step programme, aiming to turn his life around at 38.
It’s a tale of turmoil but also a glimpse of hope for change. Let’s see if Balmont can write a new chapter once he’s served his time. 🌟
