Over 2,300 new homes in Pembrokeshire are on hold! Yep, you read that right. More than 100 development projects across the county are stuck in limbo, and it’s all down to ongoing nitrogen neutrality requirements from Natural Resources Wales.

During a recent council meeting, it was revealed that these guidelines have been causing headaches for builders and councils alike since their introduction last June. This nitrogen neutrality zone covers around 75% of Pembrokeshire, taking in areas like Haverfordwest, Narberth, Pembroke, and Pembroke Dock.

Councillor Jacob Williams reported that a whopping 35% of all outstanding applications are affected by this nitrates issue. That’s 2,376 out of 6,741 potential housing units hanging in the balance. 😲

But fear not! Pembrokeshire County Council is on the case. They’ve already begun tackling the problem with an action plan approved last October, and the final report is due this September. Will it clear the fog for these projects? Fingers crossed! 🤞
