End of an era! 🎙️ BBC Radio 4’s long wave service has officially signed off after nearly 100 years. Broadcaster Al Ryan bid a heartfelt farewell, reminiscing about the channel’s rich history. It all started in 1934, playing a crucial role during WWII, and has entertained us with gems like The Archers and the iconic Shipping Forecast.

The BBC decided it’s time to move on from this vintage tech, focusing instead on future-proofing with digital platforms. While Radio 4 may no longer crackle over long wave, rest assured it’s still available on FM, DAB, TV, and digital services.

To all the campaigners who vouched for its continuity, fear not—Radio 4 isn’t going anywhere, just modernising! It’s a bittersweet goodbye as we embrace the nostalgia. Do you have fond memories of listening in? Share them below! 📻✨ #BBCRadio4 #EndOfAnEra #RadioHistory #OnwardsAndUpwards
