The airport currently sees around 10.8 million travellers each year, ranking it as the UK’s eighth-busiest. But it’s eager for more, and the latest planning application, featuring nearly 500 detailed documents, is inching closer to the finish line. If green-lit, enhancements will span runway improvements, more space in terminals, travelators, and a greater assortment of shops and dining options. 🍽️🛍️

By late 2030s, the airport hopes to hit that 15 million passenger mark, thanks to the newly anticipated long-haul routes. This expansion isn’t just about flights; it’s set to create 1,000 more local on-site jobs too. 👩‍✈️🧳

Peak days may see an uptick of 35 extra aircraft movements, but don’t worry – there are no plans to lift restrictions on night flying. However, they do aim to allow a bump of 1,000 additional annual night flights during peak times. 🌙✈️
