Communities Unite in Honour of Lilly Jones π

In a heartwarming show of empathy and unity, communities are coming together for a special event to honour the life of 14-year-old Lilly Jones from Blaina, who sadly passed away in a suspected murder. Lilly, a Brynmawr Foundation School pupil, was found in the Duffryn Park area, leaving a community in mourning.

To celebrate Lilly’s memory, two Welsh football clubs have teamed up to organise the Lilly Jones Memorial Cup. This tribute match between Beaufort Colts and Nantyglo FC will be held on Saturday, July 18, at Beaufort Colts FC’s Hilltop Stadium, with all proceeds going to Lilly’s family.
From 1pm to 6pm, attendees can enjoy a day of football, food vendors, and community spirit. The event isn’t just about football; it’s about connection, compassion, and remembering Lilly. Organisers hope to make the day as special as possible with potential entertainment and activities.
The clubs are inviting everyone to join them, bring some cash to support fundraising activities, and contribute to a family facing unimaginable loss. Every penny raised will go directly to Lilly’s family.
The Lilly Jones Memorial Cup is set to become an annual event, ensuring her legacy continues. While no amount of money can replace a loved one, together, we can show Lilly’s family they’re not alone. Letβs fill the ground, unite as one, and make this day worthy of her memory.
A huge thank you to Jo Bevans for coordinating with Lilly’s family, Nantyglo FC for taking part, and the Abertillery Belles for their help in organising. Let’s stand together and honour Lilly in the way she deserves. π
