Huw Edwards is facing backlash after attempting to make a return to journalism with a new blog. Criticism floods in as many believe the former newsreader, convicted for possessing indecent images of children, should remain out of the public eye. Edwards, once a trusted face on television, has launched his own blog on Substack to discuss politics, media, and culture. But not everyone is on board.

Emma Jane Taylor, a child safety campaigner, has voiced her disapproval, urging Edwards to step back from the public sphere. She suggests that his efforts would be better spent working quietly on rehabilitation projects. She argues that Edwards lost public trust and shouldn’t be trying to rebuild his public profile.

Taylor, who founded Project 90-10 to protect children from abuse, passionately emphasises the focus should shift to supporting victims rather than giving attention to Edwards. Taylor questions the decision to offer him a public platform, pointing out that the narrative once again centers on him instead of those affected by his actions.

The Metropolitan Police charged Edwards in 2024 with creating indecent images, to which he pleaded guilty. Edwards received a suspended sentence and is on the sex offenders’ register for seven years. Despite expressing regret and remorse, public sentiment remains divided over his attempted comeback.
