👑 Why does King Charles choose to live at Clarence House instead of Buckingham Palace? Let’s dive into the heartwarming reasons! 🏰

Royal expert Hugo Vickers unveils the intimate side of this choice. While Buckingham Palace undergoes a whopping £369 million renovation, King Charles and Queen Camilla are sticking to Clarence House, and here’s why.
According to Vickers, Clarence House is more than just a royal residence—it’s truly a home. Unlike the hustle and bustle of palatial Buckingham, which he likens to a “large Edwardian hotel” with “a lot going on,” Clarence House offers a cosy, personal vibe that resonates with Charles.

Charles moved into Clarence House in 2003, two years before Camilla joined him. The house, once belonging to the Queen Mother, is filled with personal touches, preserving her memory while adding Charles’s own flair. The garden room, stocked with her favourite biographies, is a nod to the past that makes it feel lived-in and warm.
With Buckingham described as somewhat “soulless,” Clarence House beams with character and comfort, offering an environment where state events can morph into everyday royal life seamlessly. Besides, state banquets and grand ceremonies have their place at the palace, but Clarence House shines for casual and intimate occasions.
Even Grant Harrold, a former royal butler, confirms Charles’s long-standing preference for this residence. He recalls Charles discussing his plans to keep it as his main home years ago. So, for Charles, this move was always on the cards.
And for Prince William and Kate, it seems like they’ll remain nestled in Windsor’s Forest Lodge when their time comes.
It’s clear that for King Charles, a home is more than grandeur—it’s about warmth, heritage, and personal touch. What do you think of their choice? Let us know in the comments! 🏡✨
