🚨 Dramatic Sea Rescue in Wales! 🚨
In a heart-stopping incident, a small aircraft faced mechanical troubles and had to make an emergency crash-landing into the sea near Cardigan Island, Ceredigion. The drama unfolded as the plane, travelling from Ireland to Italy with a stop planned in Aberporth, was forced to ditch into the water. Luckily, the two people on board managed to escape to safety on the aircraft’s wing and were soon rescued.
The high-stakes rescue operation was a collaboration of heroism from the New Quay, Cardigan, and Fishguard RNLI teams, along with HM Coastguard. Responding to a mayday call, they sprang into action, dispatching lifeboats and a rescue helicopter to the scene. When rescuers arrived, they found the stranded duo cold, in shock, but gratefully conscious.
The two were whisked to New Quay harbour and promptly transferred to a hospital for treatment. In a twist of fate, one of the rescued individuals turned out to be neighbours with an Irish rower saved by the RNLI during Storm Arwen back in 2021!
This incredible rescue underscores the vital role of the RNLI and their unwavering dedication to saving lives at sea. Hats off to the skilled crews and all involved in this successful mission! 🙌
Stay safe and be sure to show your support for the life-saving work these remarkable volunteers do every day. 🌊💙✨
