🎾 Wimbledon Woes: £800k for British Tennis Hopefuls 🎾

The opening day of Wimbledon was a tough one for British tennis fans! Despite a valiant effort, all 10 Brits bowed out in the first round, but still walked away with a cool £80,000 each!

In a day filled with close calls and tough matches, Cameron Norrie came up just short in a thriller against American qualifier Michael Zheng, while Harriet Dart and Mimi Xu also took their matches to the wire in deciding sets.
Unfortunately, big hitters Emma Raducanu and Jack Draper had to pull out before even hitting the court due to injuries. Despite this setback, they each received £40k, as per the Grand Slam rulebook for players who withdraw due to genuine reasons.
With Wimbledon offering a whopping £47.264 million in prize money, it’s clear that the reward for making it to this iconic tournament is significant, even if luck wasn’t on the British side this time around.
While it wasn’t the dream start Team GB hoped for this year, the tournament is just getting started and plenty of action, excitement, and surprises are sure to come.
Here’s hoping next year’s team can come back stronger and perhaps spark some Centre Court magic! 🎾💪
