Beware if you’re planning a splash at Aberdulais Waterfalls, also known as Tonna Falls, in Neath! Several children, including a 13-year-old boy, fell ill with severe vomiting and diarrhoea after a fun day swimming in this popular spot. A concerned mum, Sarah Gladwin, shared her son’s ordeal, recounting how he and his friends became unwell just days after their visit on June 25th. Her Facebook post was flooded with messages from other parents reporting similar experiences – even leading to one child requiring hospital treatment.

Though the cause of the illness remains unconfirmed, this has certainly raised eyebrows and sparked action. Natural Resources Wales is investigating, ensuring water safety is a priority. They remind us that natural water bodies can sometimes harbour bacteria, despite their picturesque appearance. Always be cautious when taking a dip, especially in areas not officially designated for swimming.
Stay safe, folks, and keep this in mind before planning your next adventure at Tonna Falls! 🌊⚠️
